Movies/James Bradley

We got the movies!! Stoked to watch them. I will see you guys tomorrow in the meeting. I have been doing a little research on my flag raisers. I have not heard back from James Bradley via Facebook, or email. I did get a response from his secretary who informed me that he is out of town...actually out of the country to be specific. So I am not sure if we will be getting any response or further information from him regarding our topic and movie. Maybe he will still come through though. See you guys tomorrow.

Braden

movies!

The movies came today. We'll discuss tomorrow when would be the best time to watch them.

Meeting tomorrow

I reserved room 117 in the library tomorrow from 1:30-3:00 for our group meeting. The room is on the North side of the first floor of the library, back by the main room of computers. 1:30 is a harder time to get a room than 4:30 so that's why are in a different spot.

See you tomorrow!

Steve

I'm working on finding sources for research. I found arlingtoncemetery.net and I've tried to contact the webmaster to get some information on his site.

Hello World

I just attempted to contact James Bradley...John Bradley's (one of the flag raisers) son. Hopefully we will be able to get further, or "insider" information for the project. Hopefully James pulls through for us!!

Preliminary Thoughts and research

We decided to split up researching the flag raisers.

Steve is going to research Ira Hayes & Franklin Sousley
Laura is going to research John Bradley & Mike Strank
Braden is going to research  Rene Gagnon & Harlon Block

We are all going to look for information on the battle of Iwo Jima and later discuss what information we feel is most important.

Laura is buying the movie off Amazon so we can watch it and have it for whenever we need it.

we found a great website:
www.iwojima.com

we also decided to look at the movie Letters from Iwo Jima to get the Japanese perspective.

Group Meeting place

For November 9, we will be meeting in room 141 during class. The room we have been going to is already reserved so this is right next to it.

We'll start by reading the plot summary of the movie and then researching the time period and what the NY Times and other news publications were saying about it, etc.

See you then!
